shower Upgrades

A well-designed shower can be so much more than just functional. The right details can make it more comfortable, more convenient, and a lot more enjoyable to use every day.

When planning a custom home or bathroom remodel, these are the kinds of features that are worth thinking about early in the design process. Some are simple upgrades, while others may affect plumbing, framing, waterproofing, electrical, or fixture placement — which is exactly why it helps to make those decisions before construction gets too far along.

A rain shower head can create a softer, more spa-like experience with broad overhead coverage. Pairing that with a handheld shower adds flexibility for rinsing, cleaning, accessibility, and everyday convenience.

A built-in shower niche keeps bottles and essentials organized without adding shelves that stick out into the shower. A shower bench can add comfort and function while also giving the space a more custom feel.

For an even more upgraded shower experience, body sprays can add another layer of comfort and luxury. Thermostatic controls help maintain a consistent water temperature, which can make the shower more comfortable and easier to use.

And don’t overlook the floor. A linear drain can create a clean, modern look while allowing more flexibility with tile layout and shower design.

Not every shower needs every feature, and more isn’t always better. The goal is to choose the upgrades that actually fit the way you live and use the space.

The biggest takeaway is to think through these details early. Features that look simple on the finished product may require additional plumbing, blocking, waterproofing, drainage planning, or coordination behind the walls.

Small details really can make a big impact — especially when they’re planned into the design from the beginning.
